When I first arrived at park n rec, I saw many kids dressed in costumes. I first talked to my mentor and rec leaders about the schedule for today and if they wanted me to help them with anything specific. First, I helped these two group of girls, Arriyana and Celine decorate somewhat of Halloween card. There was a lot of stickers involved.
It was time to clean up and it was time to start playing the games that was planned the other day. The kids had to guess the four different items in a bucket that had some gooey stuff in it to scare them. I helped the rec leaders cover the kids eyes and lead them to each bucket. One of the kids tried cheating but the rec leaders knew he would so it was kind of funny but I covered his eyes and made sure he didn't look. When people were done feeling the items they would write them on a separate sheet of paper.
The next game I helped by covering the kids eyes again but this time it was the same concept but they had to guess the type of chocolate it was. The kids were mostly excited at the fact that they were going to get four different types of chocolate. After the games, my mentor and rec leaders announced the winners.
It was time to overall clean up and I thought it was sweet because two of the kids made stuff for me and I got to take them home.
The games took longer then expected so by the time they were done it was time for the kids to go to the computer lab. At this point, most kids don't want to be bothered because they're too bust playing games or watching videos. I just talked to the rec leaders and some of the parents that arrived to pick up their kid or kids.
The third day with the kids was better than any other day so far because of the games and the fact that it was Halloween. I'm getting more and more comfortable with all the kids and getting close to some of the rec leaders. I'm hoping the next time I get to see the kids that I can help someone with homework but most of the time they're done by the time I get there. Also, the next time I come by, one of the kids wants me to specifically play with her when they get the chance to go to the playground.
